Cast T-shirts:

Cast shirts are here!  Come find Laura if you ordered one.  If you did not order a shirt and would still like to, you can get in contact with our T-shirt guy, Brian White, to order directly.  He is local so it’s easy to pick up from his house off of 10 mile road.

Email him here to order:  orders@alchemistpromo.com

-You CAN show up as early as 4:30pm!

Call time for each day is 5:30.  You can begin arriving as early as 4:30 if you’d like to come early.  Saturday call time is 12:00 for the matinee performance.

We’ll have a cast potluck between shows on Saturday.  Huckleberry will provide the main dish and drinks. Please bring a side or dessert to share. There is only one tiny (cutsie-wootsie) refrigerator at the SPEC so plan food accordingly.

Costumes: DO NOT, eat food in your costumes! If you need to, put on a hoodie/shirt to eat while you are wearing your costumes! (Unless you eat food onstage then its fine)

-Performances:
-This is either a reminder for some of you, or new info if you’ve never been in a show! DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. There are about a million reasons why not to change anything during a show. This includes lines, entrances/exits, choreo, blocking, props, anything really!
-There will be TONS of applause and laughter!! TONS!! Make sure you are aware of this! If a song finishes and the audience is clapping, don’t start the next scene until most of it has gone away. If they are laughing, leave a slight pause before your next line! If you are confused by this talk to one of your directors!

We have paid for the rights to make a video copy of this show so we’ll be giving each cast member a video copy after the show is done.  Nice!

Saturday night (closing night), everyone will need to stay to help pack everything out (this is called strike). So plan on staying to help if you are over 14. Kids will help for a bit and when their job is done, they can go home. We are usually fully out of the building by 11:00-12:00. The more hands, the faster it goes!

Reminder that phones need to stay in the dressing rooms during the show, don’t take them on stage. And no videos of the show can be posted online at all!

We’ll have a script return box at the SPEC next week. Please erase anything you have written in your script before putting it in the box.  Scripts can be returned whenever you are ready to part with them during show week…I recommend waiting until the end of the run.

We will have a cast party in a few weeks…more details to come.

Makeup:

Adults and teens need to wear basic stage makeup for this show so you don’t look washedout under the lights. We will not have a makeup person backstage so you will need to apply your own makeup.  If you need to buy stage makeup, I recommend going to “The Crazy Neighbor” store in Boise.  They can help you get makeup that is matched to your skin tone.  A basic Ben Nye kit should do just fine for this show.  Here is a link to their stage makeup page on their website.

Children can wear regular street makeup.  Blush is definitely needed for both boys and girls.  Girls can also add a tinted lip gloss and/or mascara if they want to but it’s not required.

Invited Dress Rehearsal:
We have secured the rights from our licensing company to perform an invited dress rehearsal.  We will be offering this to you in lieu of comp tickets for this show.  The date for the invited dress rehearsal is Wednesday, October 23rd at the Boise State Special Events Center (SPEC).  Preshow starts at 6:45 and the performance starts at 7:00 pm.

What this means is you can invite your friends and family to come watch our final dress rehearsal with the understanding that they know it is still a dress rehearsal and that we might have to stop the show to fix something.

Your friends/family DO NOT need tickets to come watch.  There is no cost to come to the invited dress rehearsal (other than possibly parking). There will be no programs or concessions but otherwise will be like a regular performance.  We hope you can invite people to come watch!

Cast T-shirt ordering

The deadline to order and pay for shirts is Thursday, September 26th.

Performance at the park:

This coming Saturday (September 14th), we will be performing at the park for the Meridian Community Art Party. Our time to perform is 12:30.

We will be meeting behind the band shell at 11:45. Please wear a solid colored shirt if you can. We will be singing “It must be believed to be seen” without any of the choreography or dialogue, just the singing.

One thing we really need your help with is to keep videos of the Saturday performance at the park off of social media. PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY VIDEOS OF THE SATURDAY PERFORMANCE ONLINE. Still photos are totally fine to share online, but we have had some licensing issues recently and want to stay in good standing with Music Theater International. Thank you for your help with this!

See you on Saturday!

General expectations: We thought we’d outline some expectations for rehearsal etiquette. While this is not an exhaustive list, here are some things to keep in mind during rehearsals.

        – the director, choreographer, music director is in charge.  Please listen and don’t talk over them.
        – be on time and ready to work when you arrive
        – bring your script, a pencil, and a water bottle
        – save questions for an appropriate time (i.e. after rehearsal or through email) whenever possible to help us streamline the rehearsal process.
        – communicate all conflicts with Josh Swing, stage manager, and communicate if you are running late to rehearsal

Postcards will be available to share with your friends and family.  The biggest thing you can do to have a successful show is to invite people to come see it.  Please take as many postcards as you’d like and share them with people you know!

T-shirts: We will be offering (optional) cast t-shirts.  Details on how to order will be coming soon.

Our first full cast rehearsal will be on August 26th!  Can’t wait to see you all there!!  Check the schedule tab for details.
